The Authority possesses many black & white aerial photographs from different periods and in different scales. Since the beginning of the 70s, the west of the country has been covered by aerial photographs, with photogrammetric quality standards. Most of them have been exploited for mapping.
Most of the photographs are in black & white with scales ranging from 1:20,000 to 1:60,000. A colour set of photographs of the city of Aden is available at scale 1:10,000.
Many towns in Yemen have been photographed several times: for further information, please contact the Survey Authority directly.
From 1973 to 1998, aerial photographs of the city and the environs of Sana'a have been taken, approximately every two years, at scale 1:5,000 to 1:40,000.

Some photographic coverages of Sana'a, Aden and Lahj (1994) are available as digital orthoimages with names and contour lines added.
A complete photograph coverage of the country at scale 1:40 000 is planned from 2001 to 2003.
In addition to that, 91 cities will be photographed at scale 1:7 000.
